Rob Viktum & Friends | Aight, New Drink

So the homie Rob Viktum decided to get all big time on us. While doing a very good job of keeping this project under wraps, the true homies just knew that this move was bound to happen. Mr. Viktum linked up with Tanya Morgan's Don Will to create a masterpiece. Pay attention, not only are these artists trying to subliminally influence us to drink cheaper beer (Pabst Blue Ribbon, which is greater than Coors/Miller/Bud Lite), but they are blessing us with this late summer banger for FREE. Peace to the homie Rob Vik and congrats on such a great sounding project. If you aren't stupid, download this now. If you are stupid, download this now, you will become smarter.

Click HERE or on the album cover to get the EP.

You can also follow these folks on Twitter.

Michael Jackson | DJ Premier | Tribute Mix

So a week has passed since "The Man" left this earth in the physical form and it still just doesn't feel real. I keep saying to myself, Michael Jackson... Michael JACKSON. I'm sure you all, just like me have been bumpin MJ tracks like crazy. But only one man can put it down and bring out the funk like no other, and that man is DJ Premiere.

Man I'm so glad I found this! I caught the last 15 minutes of it on Sirius last Friday night and was pissed that I missed it. The reason I missed it was because I was too busy playing my own MJ tracks. This is Premo's live mix that he did live on Hip Hop Nation Ch. 50 on Sirius/XM Radio the night after MJ's passing. Thank you Mr. Premier for recording this session for all of us to enjoy for eternity. And also thanks to HeadKrack for posting this on his blog for me to discover and share with you all. Once again, rest in peace to one of the greatest, Michael Jackson. Click the cover to download the mix.

Thanks to Premo for this dope mix.

And thanks to HeadKrack for helping me discover the recording.

Sage Francis | Sick Of Wasting

Sage is back! It seems like forever since we have heard from Sage Francis, but he is finally back! Any fan of Sage will know about his "Sick Of" mixtape series, and this is the 5th installment. Don't get me wrong, I am a fan of Sage, but as his career progressed, he got a little weird for me, but maybe I was just getting a little weird myself. This mixtape is straight fire/hip hop and the reason I became a fan of this man... Straight hip-hop rhymes and beats. If you have never heard of him, check this out. But but but wait it gets better, he is offering the mixtape for free! Click the album cover to download. But before you do that read below and find out why he released this tape, how far some of the beats date back, and how you can get an autographed copy for yourself.

"I wasn't sure if I would ever release another mix of this sort after the last one, but it's been a couple years since my last official album and I've accumulated a large number of "left over" tracks that never found their way onto an official album. I also opened up the 4-track vault this year and was able to unearth some solid material that dates back to 1996.

My music career, as most people know it, essentially began with the "Sick of Waiting" mixtape in 1999. Now that I've typed that out I've realized that we're essentially celebrating the "Sick of" mixtape series' 10th birthday. Hot damn. It seems like just yesterday I was dubbing all the original tapes, cutting and pasting the album covers, writing out the album info on the stickers, and selling them hand-to-hand at shows. Time (f)lies." -Sage Francis

Mes The Jive Turkey | Fishr Pryce | Stealing Stars

"After a solid year without an official release, Mes the Jive Turkey returns to the music scene with the help of DJ Fishr Pryce. Their latest mixtape, Stealing Stars, is an action packed mix of brand new songs over (mostly) stolen beats. After sitting and waiting for his producer friends to send him some beats, Mes decided it was taking too long and his ambitions couldn’t allow him to wait any longer. He decided to steal beats from his friends and a few other well known producers in order to create a project that he could be proud of. Knowing that Fishr is always a worthy accomplice in such shenanigans, the two began putting together a list of stolen music and making it their own. This isn’t your normal jacking for beats kinda project, though. Each song becomes something brand new and you can feel the time and effort put into the recreation. This isn’t just taking an already top 40 song and trying to make it better (everyone already loves Jay-Z’s verse, why would you try to rap over his song?). Producers such as PicnicTyme, Rob Viktum, Jake One, S1 & The ARE might be a little upset to find their music has been jacked, but we think they will understand. Now the people who make a few angry guest appearances ranting about the stolen items Mes & Fishr have made off with in the past, that’s a different story."

The Kid Daytona | Mick Boogie | Daytona 500

This "Kid" is sick! This lil' e.p. is just a preview to The Kid Daytona's debut album, Come Fly With Me. What he did was take one of hip hop's most famous samples, (Bob James, Nautilus), and have his crew of producers flip it in their own way for each track. It's really amazing how different each track is. Get this now.

Droppin' Science | J Rocc | Mixtape

Yesterday, the homie Murs dropped The Science on y'all, so today we figured why not go ahead and drop some more science. A little over a year ago Blue Note Records dropped an album called Droppin' Science which features the greatest hip hop samples taken from the Blue Note back catalog. J.Rocc from the World Famous Beat Junkies took those tracks, and flipped them for a really dope mixtape. Being that the album dropped over a year ago, I'm not sure how new this mixtape is, but who cares, it's fire. You can cop the album Droppin' Science here.

Mixtape Madness | Beat Tape Bailout II?

Okay, so the homies over at ITE (aka In This Economy?) have inspired us a little bit here at ThugBoss. They ran a post on Monday called The Beat Tape Bailout, which basically shed some light on some great music that was out there on the web to be had for free. Free? Yes free. Well man, since then, they either missed a few, or maybe a few more joints have been dropped. How amazing is it that we live in a time where all it takes is a decent internet connection to get all the free (legal) music we could ever wish for? One thing is for sure, if we are in a recession, these artists surely feel our pain. So whether you can't afford to buy any new CDs, or just wanna hear some new and very fresh music, I suggest you continue reading.

I guess you can call this the Beat Tape Bailout part II.

Jon Hope | Some Kind Of Wonderful

Jon Hope is a very gifted MC hailing from Rhode Island. Here is his new EP that he is just giving away to us for free. What recession? Get it!

Mr Peter Parker | Asher Roth's Day Off

I guess you could say that ThugBoss has been all up on Asher's bozack as of late, but what can we say? The kid is dope. If you have been procrastinating, then this tape is a perfect refresher course for all the stuff that wasn't on his Greenhouse Effect mixtape. For the fans, there should be enough remixes/blends to hold you over for 12 days, until the album drops.

DJ SELECT | Summertime Selections | Vol 1

The funkiest mix of the whole bunch. This is a raw mix from Dallas' own DJ Select. This is the one you put on for that first party of the summer. You can also catch him at various clubs during the week (if you live in Dallas). Follow Select on Twitter, or check out his blog here.

Vohn Beatz | A Child's Painting

Now, we have 11 year old prodigy/the future of all that is beatmaking... Mr. Vohn Beatz. He is the 11 (maybe 12 now) year old son of Hip Hop super producer S-1 (aka Symbolic One) of Strange Fruit Project. Like his father, this kid is amazing with the beats. This tape has many guest appearances ranging from Headkrack, Picnic, Hi-Tek, Braille and many more. I'm not even gonna say that for an eleven year old whatever... for a man any age, VohnBeatz puts it down. This kid is AMAZING.

U.N.I. | Ro Blvd | A Love Supreme

Just like every other drop in this post Y-O and Thurz come through with some amazing (and did I mention free?) music. This is a true must cop. So basically go to the site and do whatever it takes to get this album. I gave them my email on general principal...

Fail Whale: A Tribute

ILLROOTS.com put this tape together as a tribute to Twitter's many failures this past month, hence the "Fail Whale" graphics.

Filled with exclusive tracks from XV, Outasight, Harlem’s Cash, Jon Hope, Nero, Esso, J.Rocwell, Keelay & Zaire, P. Casso, Shawn Chrystopher, Evidence and more."
